an acute haemorrhagic viral infection with a rhabdovirus of Cyprinidae, in particular of cultured Cyprinus carpio, usually appearing in spring. Symptoms include loss of coordination and equilibrium, popeyes, swollen belly, inflamed and swollen vent, and oedema and haemorrhages of various organs. Also called infectious dropsy
